Beginner Pottery Class
Foundations, Confidence & Creative Discovery

Bee’s Knees Pottery Studio welcomes new potters into a supportive and engaging environment where learning is hands-on, approachable, and inspiring. This beginner course is designed for those with little to no wheel experience and provides a thorough introduction to the fundamental skills of working with clay.
Over this 8-week course, you’ll learn the essentials of throwing, trimming, and glazing through step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice. You’ll build confidence at the wheel, explore the stages of clay, and create your first functional pieces. Laurie-Rae offers personalized instruction to help you feel comfortable, successful, and inspired throughout the process.

Intermediate Pottery Class
Refinement, Technique & Artistic Growth

At Bee’s Knees Pottery Studio, we are committed to nurturing both craftsmanship and creative growth. This intermediate course is designed for potters who feel confident at the wheel and are ready to advance their technical abilities with greater precision and intention.
Throughout the 8-week session, you’ll explore techniques such as throwing larger forms, refining wall thickness, improving symmetry, altering and combining forms, and enhancing surface design. Instructor and artist Jim Belcastro provides demonstrations, focused guidance, and ample practice time to support your growth as both a maker and an artist.
This course is ideal for potters looking to elevate their technique and deepen their creative practice within the supportive community of Bee’s Knees Pottery Studio.

Handbuilding Pottery Class
Creative Form, Surface Play & Slow-Craft Exploration
Instructor / Artist: Mary Proto
Our Handbuilding Pottery Class invites you to explore clay through a creative, tactile, and deeply rewarding approach. Guided by artist and instructor Mary Proto, this 8-week course focuses on building forms by hand using techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab construction, and surface texturing.
Students will learn to shape both functional and sculptural pieces while gaining an understanding of form, structure, and design. Mary’s thoughtful, encouraging teaching style supports beginners and experienced makers alike as they develop creative confidence and discover new possibilities in clay.
Each session combines demonstrations, hands-on practice, and one-on-one guidance. You’ll experiment with texture, pattern, surface decoration, and thoughtful glazing choices—all within the warm, welcoming environment of Bee’s Knees Pottery Studio.
This class is ideal for anyone looking to explore the artistry of handbuilt pottery, cultivate personal expression, and enjoy the mindful, meditative nature of working with clay.

Tuition: $350 for 8-week session
