BEE'S KNEES POTTERY

About Us

About the Owner: Laurie-Rae Lallier
For owner and founder Laurie-Rae Lallier, pottery has been a lifelong thread woven through the tapestry of her life. Her passion began in high school and has inspired her to create a studio that fosters relationships, growth, and artistry.
“My love of pottery inspired me to follow my dream of creating a studio space that builds a creative, supportive, and nurturing community,” Laurie-Rae shares. “It’s a place where we can grow together, refine our skills, and form lasting bonds.”
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity and relatability. Laurie-Rae has developed a gift for making pottery techniques accessible, practical, and meaningful. Whether students are new to clay or rediscovering it after years away, she strives to ensure each person feels confident in their abilities. “The process of learning pottery is deeply personal,” she explains. “No two potters are alike—and thank goodness for that!”
About the Studio: Bee's Knees
Nestled in the heart of the Connecticut shoreline, Bee’s Knees Pottery located at 355 Middlesex Turnpike, Old Saybrook, Connecticut is more than a pottery studio—it is a space to slow down, get your hands in the clay, and reconnect with what matters. Whether you’re trying something new, returning to a creative practice, or looking to join a vibrant community, Bee’s Knees invites you to discover the joy of creating something meaningful.
Bee’s Knees Pottery describes itself as “a place to connect with clay but most importantly, create in community.” The studio’s philosophy is simple: art flourishes when people come together. With memberships, group classes, and private lessons, the studio offers flexible ways to learn and grow. Beginners can explore the fundamentals of wheel throwing, while more experienced artists can refine their skills and dive into personal projects.
Studio memberships are designed for those comfortable working independently who want access to professional equipment, shared resources, and the encouragement of like-minded potters. For many members, Bee’s Knees has become more than just a workspace—it’s a welcoming home where creativity is nurtured, friendships are formed, and clay becomes a medium for both self-expression and connection.
